Here is just one animation tutorial for Illustrator. Our project is unique in that it is collaborative and will have a static, printed outcome as well as a jittery, moving group animation but this tutorial may help you get started.
Consider that your personalized frames will be viewed every tenth frame in the final animation. This means your work will be seen roughly 3 times per second. How will your work stand out in the crowd of frames composed by the class? Your printed piece will have a unique composition that disrupt the "timeline" of sequential images. What way will you display your detailed work on the animation frames?
I love this graphic you are showing. It reminds me of the wrestlers that Francis Bacon used to base his painting off of.
